Introduction to Astrophysics I

Topics include celestial mechanics; the interaction of light and matter; basics of astronomical observing (telescopes and the night sky); and the nature of stars. The bulk of the course focuses on stellar astrophysics, addressing the properties of stars (including the Sun) and how these are determined, the physics of stellar atmospheres and interiors, star formation and evolution, and the fates of stars and stellar remnants.
