Globalization from a historical perspective: the forces driving globalization, the forces slowing it down, and its effects on the world economy. In the first part of the course, students learn framework models of economic growth, trade, and institutional development. The second part takes them through the changes in the flows ofgoods, services, capital and people across borders over the last five centuries. In the third part, the course examines the effects of globalization on human capital accumulation, violence, and inequality.
