Description

This course aims to provide all students with a basic understanding of tools and methods to assist in making personal financial decisions responsibly. Topics covered include: career planning (including college major and occupation choice), budgeting, overview of financial institutions/services, borrowing/lending (including home and auto purchases), tax considerations, insurance, investing (e.g. stocks/bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, real estate investment), and savings and retirement planning. Importantly, the course will cover not only how personal finance decisions impact the wellbeing and happiness of individuals, but also how they impact the wellbeing of society and how access to personal finance knowledge can transform individuals and economies.
