Description
Major works of world literature, both oral and written, from ancient times to the Renaissance. Readings may include works from among the following: the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Bible, the Qur'an, the Bhagavad Gita, Ancient Egyptian texts, African creation myths, the Popol Vuh, Plato, Greek tragedy, Laozi, Ibn Arabi, Lady Murasaki, and Dante.An introductory course that presents some of the major works forming a common source and reference for western literature and culture. Readings will include works from among the following: the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Bible, Homer, Virgil, the Greek tragedies, the Bhagavad Gita, Plato, St. Augustine, Everyman, and Dante. Priority registration given to freshman.
