Introductory course. General concepts of astronomy, planet and solar system formation, lives and deaths of stars, and observational cosmology including the Big Bang Model. The laboratory includes analysis and interpretation of astronomical data and observations. Included as a part of the laboratory are computer simulations of modern astronomical equipment. Not open to students who have passed ASTR 1.
