Students wishing to minor in anthropology may choose either a general minor or one of our specialized minors. Our General Minor, described below, provides a flexible option that can easily complement a variety of majors. Our specialized minors, listed on the Anthropology Programs page of the QC catalog and the Anthropology Minors page of our department website, are designed to guide students towards courses that will prepare them for specific career paths.
A General Minor in Anthropology comprises six courses totaling 18 credits and can be usefully and easily combined with majors in other departments. The Anthropology Minor offers students an introduction to the field of anthropology and is flexible enough to provide basic knowledge of all four sub-fields of anthropology (cultural, biological, archaeological and linguistic) while at the same time allowing students to focus specifically on the areas that most interest them. More details may be found on the General Anthropology Minor page on the department website.
To explore the possibility of declaring a Minor in Anthropology, stop by the department office in 314 Powdermaker Hall and request to meet with a Faculty Advisor.
If you have decided to declare a Minor in Anthropology, send an email request to the Department Chair (Professor Larissa Swedell: LSwedell@qc.cuny.edu) and attach your completed major declaration form.
