An introduction, using a project-based approach, to advanced techniques in the synthesis, separation, and characterization of both inorganic and organic substances. These techniques include syringe procedures for working in air-free systems, vacuum distillation and sublimation, use of liquid ammonia,chromatographic techniques of separation, and Soxhlet extractions. Written reports and presentations are required. Field trips may be taken that will require a field trip fee. This course has a Material and Transportation Fee.
