The understanding and appreciation of the visual arts, mainly painting, sculpture, and architecture, throughout world history. Selections of both western and non-western art will be used to provide basic terms and techniques for analyzing the style and meaning of works, and for understanding their significance as both aesthetic creations and expressions of social, political, and personal concerns. (Note: Not open to students who are enrolled in or have received credit for ARTH 101 and 102.)
