Intensive readings in nineteenth- and twentieth-century lyric poetry of Europe and the Americas, with attention to one or more kinds of poetry (e.g., romantic, symbolist, surrealist) and interpretive approaches. The authors and texts studied vary each semester. Students may take the course twice for credit, if the works studied are different.
